Newborns

Relaxed and baby-led, newborn sessions are focused on capturing your family naturally during this special season of life. My approach is simple and timeless, with a mix of softly posed images and genuine interactions between baby and family members. These sessions include images of baby alone as well as with parents and siblings.

Newborn sessions may take place in the comfort of your home or in my light and bright Plano studio. We leave plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed, so allow up to two hours for your session. My goal is to create a calm, easy experience while documenting both the tiny details and the connection between your family and your new baby.

Those early newborn days pass so quickly, and babies change daily during those first few weeks. From tiny fingers and sleepy stretches to the way they fit perfectly in your arms, these are the little details you will always want to remember. Newborn photos are truly one of the few investments parents never regret making.

Each session includes 40 hand-edited high-resolution digital images selected by you from your gallery. Additional images are available for purchase after gallery delivery.

FAQ

When should I schedule my newborn session?

Many families reserve their newborn session as soon as they find out they're expecting! Because I accept only a limited number of newborn sessions each month, I recommend booking early to ensure availability around your due date. We will pencil in a session date and then adjust if needed once your baby arrives!

If your baby has already been born, please don't hesitate to reach out. If my schedule allows, I would be honored to capture this special season for your family.

How old should my baby be for the session?

The first 5–14 days after birth are generally the ideal time for a newborn session, as babies tend to be sleepier, more relaxed, and often have that fresh newborn complexion that parents love to remember. However, there's no need to worry if that window has passed or if you prefer to wait a bit. Beautiful newborn portraits can be created throughout your baby's first 2-3 months, and every session is tailored to your little one's age and personality.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Absolutely! Parents and siblings (and even pets!) are always welcome and encouraged to be part of your newborn session.

Should I choose an in-home or studio newborn session?

Both options create beautiful, timeless images. It simply depends on the experience you're looking for.

An in-home session captures your family in the place where you're making your first memories together. We can incorporate meaningful spaces like the nursery, cuddle on your bed or sofa, and document this special season in the comfort of your own home. These sessions have a relaxed, lifestyle feel and tell the story of your family's first days with your new baby.

A studio session offers a bright, clean, and timeless setting with beautiful natural light throughout the day. If your home doesn't receive a lot of natural light, or you prefer a simple, uncluttered backdrop that keeps the focus entirely on your family, the studio is a wonderful choice. The studio features a curated collection of timeless newborn props, including bassinets, a beautiful daybed, and comfortable couches and chairs in soft, neutral tones, providing a variety of classic settings for your session.

Still not sure which is right for you? I'd be happy to help you decide based on your home, your style, and the type of images you envision.

What should we wear for our newborn session?

Soft, light-colored clothing photographs beautifully, and perfectly complements my light and bright photography style. I recommend neutrals, creams, whites, soft grays, light blues, blush pinks, sage greens, and other muted pastel tones. Delicate florals, subtle gingham, and timeless patterns can also add beautiful texture without distracting from your images.

I encourage families to coordinate, choosing colors that complement one another for a cohesive, timeless look. Whenever possible, avoid dark or bright colors and bold patterns, as they can draw attention away from the connection between your family and create a heavier look.

Every session includes access to my curated client wardrobe, whether we're photographing in the studio or in your home. I offer flattering dresses for moms, timeless newborn outfits, and coordinated clothing for older siblings, making it easy to create a beautiful, cohesive look. I'm always happy to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully and reflect your family's style.
